Adding Small Unique Details to Make Your Event Extra Special

Apr 11, 2014   //   by NSPIRED   //   birthday, blog, party  //  No Comments

A little special touch can go a long way! To help make a simple birthday lunch extra special, we added a few unique details.

The birthday lunch was held at JOEY Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto. They recently opened up a private dining area and it’s perfect for special occasions. The space itself has a simple yet rustic feel, so by adding a few floral arrangements, candles and balloons, we were able to provide the wow effect to guests (and the birthday girl!).

In true NSPIRED fashion, we had to add something unique to make it an one of a kind event. We made pretty place cards for all the guests, which also doubled as nice party favors. Small details can go a long way – we have tons of ideas on how to add your own special touch to your events. Surprise your friend or loved one on their next birthday or celebratory occasion!

Makena’s First Birthday Party

Jan 15, 2014   //   by NSPIRED   //   birthday, blog  //  No Comments

Here’s another beautiful birthday decor from last year. Makena celebrated her first birthday last December at Sariwon Korean BBQ Restaurant in Toronto. We had the pleasure of decorating the special occasion.

The main theme for the decor was purple and accent colours were turquoise, pink and gold. Instead of the traditional balloon decoration, Makena’s parents wanted something more unique for their little girl. We adorned the backdrop with paper fans, tissue pom poms and paper lanterns, as well as a custom gold glittery sign of Makena’s name. Make It Sweet Bake Shop made a beautiful cake and other sweets to really complete the decor and make it extra special!

We really love the colour combinations and how the overall style turned out! A note to our readers: Try mixing up colours to make the decor more interesting! A mix of the right colours can really compliment each other and make a beautiful combination. If you want to try something new for your next event, contact us and we’re happy to brainstorm ideas with you!

Pink + Yellow Birthday Party

Jan 14, 2014   //   by NSPIRED   //   birthday, blog  //  No Comments

Last November, we celebrated a very special first birthday for Hennessy. It was a whimsical pink and yellow themed birthday party, and we love how the decor turned out!

As we have mentioned in previously posts, first birthday (or “doljanchi”) for Koreans are a huge celebration. For Hennessy, we decorated the main “dol” table, the games table (which included the “doljabi game”, gumball guessing game, as well as the custom fingerprint guest book, custom party hats for kids, and photos of cute little Hennessy), and the sweets table (all the sweets were made by Hennessy’s mom!).

We were thrilled when Hennessy’s parents trusted us to “go nuts!” with the full decor theme. We love adding the unique details that makes an event truly special and we tried to incorporate that touch in all aspects of the decor. There were a lot of handmade, custom details for this party including the backdrops, table skirt, party hats, guestbook, signs, etc. We echoed the girly details of pink and yellow throughout and accented some items with silver and grey to make everything pop.

The birthday was held at Seoul House in Toronto. Seoul House recently renovated their private room and we absolutely love it! It’s a blank canvas so it really gave us the freedom to decorate the room any way we wanted.

Enjoy the photos below!

Important Changes at Nspired Events

Nov 14, 2013   //   by NSPIRED   //   blog, nspired company news  //  No Comments

Dear friends,

There are some important changes happening at Nspired Events, and we wanted to give you an update on what’s to come in the new year.

In order to serve you better in 2014, we are streamlining our services to focus on our core strengths and passion – Event Planning and Event Design. We will continue to offer planning and day-of coordination for weddings, birthdays, and corporate and social events. We will also continue our event design services, which includes flowers and decor for weddings, birthdays, and special occasions, as well as custom invitations, Korean first birthdays (돌잔치), and Korean wedding ‘Paebaek’ ceremony (폐백).

Since we will be focused on event planning and design, we have decided to close the retail portion of our business. Our beautiful shop at 1400 Queen Street East will close its doors at the end of November, and we will stop retail sales and rentals of bridal attire and accessories. Before we officially close, we are having a “HUGE BLOWOUT SALE” on all our dresses and accessories until the end of the month, so don’t miss out!

Also as part of our 2014 changes, Nspired Events will no longer offer photography services in-house. However, we still have close contacts with some of the greatest photographers in the GTA! If you are looking for a photographer for your next event or special occasion, please be sure to ask about our event planning service.

We feel that by reorganizing our services, we will be more efficient and effective in helping your dream event become a reality. We will continue to work with the best vendors and put the same love and care that we’ve always done in all of our events! Keep an eye out for updates to our website in the new year and information on new, exciting services.

We want to thank the Leslieville community for their love and support over the years. We are leaving the neighborhood, but we hope that you will continue to think of us for your future events.

Thank you,
Lucy Chung, Event Director

First Birthday Parties in June

Jun 27, 2013   //   by NSPIRED   //   birthday, blog  //  No Comments

We celebrated two first birthdays in June. First, Mason celebrated his first birthday at Sariwon Korean BBQ. We wanted to match the decor to the colours of his hanbok (Korean traditional costume), so we chose cyan blue as the main colour and mint green and pale yellow as accent colours. It’s tricky mixing multiple colours in a decor because it can look too busy or messy. So we carefully chose the decor items so that the colours flow together cohesively.

The photo doesn’t show the completed set up since the cake was delivered after we arrived, but check out snapshots of Mason’s decor below…

Next up is Tristan’s first birthday party. It was held at Bulgogi Brothers in Richmond Hill. It was the first time we’ve done a party decor at there. The stage where the main table is set up was smaller than we expected. So instead of the usual two level main table set up, we opted to go with a longer one level set up instead.

For Tristan’s party, we did a traditional Korean theme. If you know anything about traditional Korean fabric and clothing, you’ll know that it’s extremely colourful and bold. So we had to mix a lot of different hues, which was a bit tricky. But it worked out really well when everything came together – the blues, greens, pinks, yellows combined nicely to create a traditional feel.

We had to set up the decor the night before so it was fairly dark and we didn’t have the cake or dduk (rice cakes) for display yet, so the table looks a bit empty in the photos. Enjoy!

Pre-Wedding Photography: Jae Hyun + Dae Hyen

Jun 11, 2013   //   by NSPIRED   //   blog, photography, wedding  //  No Comments

On a beautiful spring day, we had the honour of capturing the pre-wedding photos of Jae Hyun and Dae Hyen. We did some studio shots with the bride in a vintage mermaid dress and the groom in a modern twist of a classic tuxedo. Afterwards, we fully enjoyed the spring weather at Edwards Garden. The bride changed into a princess ballgown and the groom wore a grey tuxedo jacket accented with black details.

The flowers were in full bloom and both the bride and groom were as lovely as ever! Jae Hyun and Dae Hyen tied the knot at Old Mill Inn in late May. Look out for their wedding day photos coming soon.

Fish and Whales Theme Party

May 21, 2013   //   by NSPIRED   //   birthday, blog  //  No Comments

Last weekend, we celebrated Tyler’s first birthday. If you have read on our site, first birthdays are a big deal in the Korean culture so it’s celebrated in a big way. For Tyler’s birthday, we used fishes and whales as the theme with blue as the main color and orange as the accent color. And we had so much fun doing it!

As always, we custom made all of our decor including the backdrop, signs, frames, photo boards, etc. And we wanted the main table to have a underwater wonderland type of feel, so we used a lot of circular patterns to look like bubbles and branches to illustrate corals in the ocean. It always makes the decor more interesting if you combine a cool tone (blue in this case) and a warm tone (orange). so we tried to blend the two colors together in a complimenting way!

The party was held at a condo party room in North York. Food was catered by Tyler’s parents who owns a sushi restaurant and sandwiches were prepared by Food by James. Cupcakes are cakes were beautifully made by Make It Sweet. Enjoy the photos below and contact us to find out about our decor services for any special occasion!
